Safari Festival Underway In London
The one day festival highlights contemporary comics in London and beyond, including exhibitors like 2dcloud, Colorama, Breakdown Press, Bergen Street Press and many more.
In addition to designing the poster, Anya Davidson will be there with her new comic Tycho, a tale of two rival astronomers.
Festival purveyors Breakdown Press will be debuting new material from Richard Short (Klaus Magazine No. 3), Shaky Kane (Good News Bible), Antoine Cosse (Showtime) and Liam Cobb (Conditioner). Earlier in the week, Breakdown hosted a panel at Gosh! Comics with Charles Forsman as well as the writer and director of the Channel 4/Netflix adaptation of his comic The End of the Fucking World. Charles discussed his involvement and thoughts on the process with CYA last week and posted online a few days ago his joy at seeing some edited footage of the show at the studio while overseas. He will be there representing Bergen Street Press, publishers of his comic Revenger.
Other notable exhibitors include Anna Haifisch, whose book The Artist was released last year via Fantagraphics, collects strips initially published via Vice Magazine. Her upcoming book Von Spatz was announced to be released via Drawn and Quarterly in early 2018. She will be at the Perfectly Acceptable table, publishers of risograph works by Daria Tessler (interview), Ines Estrada and others. Tara Booth will be at the Colorama table with her new Retrofit Comics release How To Be Alive, a gorgeous collection of one page vignettes.
