Portland-based cartoonist Nou's characters inhabit dream-like worlds where anything is possible. With "Orange Chest', these dream-like tendencies flip into a nightmare featuring an enchanted wood, quadruplets and a mighty, morphing duck.

Nou's protagonists are nameless, thrown into situations they are never prepared for but with a resourcefulness and dose of luck to help guide them through the unknown. In 'Orange Chest', the main character manifests suddenly in an unknown forest inhabited by mysterious identical strangers. They immediately offer help and guidance, but whether it's their disparate behavior despite their appearance to the main character or the dizzying illustrations of the forest surrounding them, you know that something is amiss. As the story develops, the character's journey quickly turns from confusion to disillusion as a deadly threat manifests in front of her. Armed only with her fists and a motionless and emotionless duck, she does what she can to survive.
